This week started with the defense calling Mr. Ilya Ponomarev, currently member of the Russian Duma, to the witness stand. On Thursday, Rosneft CEO Sergei Bogdanchikov was due to appear but failed to make it to court.
Weekly Report of Trial Proceedings: July 12 - July 16, 2010
The defense began the week by continuing to present documentary evidence from the case materials. Testimony was then heard by Mr. Mirlin, a former employee of YUKOS-RM, and Mr. Nikitin, former head of an initiative committee to support depositors of SBS Agro.
Weekly Report of Trial Proceedings: July 5 - July 9, 2010
The week began with the defense motioning for Judge Danilkin to withdraw from the case. However, Judge Danilkin denied the motion, stating that he did not believe the defense's arguments were grounds for him to withdraw. Judge Danilkin also ruled to disallow testimony from Mr. Delyagin, deciding that his media commentary showed he had formed a subjective opinion about the charges against Messrs. Khodorkovsky and Lebedev, as well as an opinion about the court's bias.

This week, two witnesses came to testify, both disagreeing with the government's assertion that YUKOS's annual crude oil production could have been stolen. One day the court denied the defense an opportunity to question government's experts, the next day the court denied defense a chance to question an expert of their own.
