Weekly Report of Trial Proceedings: December 21 – December 25, 2009
A major development this week was a ruling by the Presidium of Russia's Supreme Court, based on a decision by the European Court of Human Rights, finding that Platon Lebedev's arrest in July of 2003 was illegal. The prosecution also presented three witnesses: Mr. Dmitry Nesterov, former deputy director of department of petroleum products exports at Yukos-RM; Ms. Alla Kashirina, former financial director of YUKOS-M and Yukos Export Trade, as well as director of OOO "Spray," and Mr. Andrei Orlov, managing director of ZAO NORSI TRIA.
Weekly Report of Trial Proceedings: December 14 – December 18, 2009
This week the court and the attendees heard about crude oil auctions, the shipment of petroleum products and what was in some of Mr. Miller’s interrogation transcripts. An appeals panel of Moscow City Court denied Messrs. Khodorkovsky and Lebedev’s appeal of Judge Danilkin’s order extending their arrest until February 17, 2010. Also, Mr. Lebedev informed the court that Russia’s Supreme Court will re-examine his arrest and detention.
Weekly Report of Trial Proceedings: December 7 – December 11, 2009
The prosecution questioned former directors of several YUKOS subsidiaries, who confirmed functioning as “nominal directors.” Some of the witnesses provided detailed explanations into how a vertically integrated crude oil company functioned. On Friday, the prosecution attempted to preemptively challenge the defense’s efforts to depose Mr. Douglas Miller, a former head of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Moscow office.
