The European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg will consider today if a complaint in the Yukos corporate case filed by Yukos lawyer Pierce Gardner back in 2004 is acceptable. In the complaint the lawyers say the Russian tax authorities have unlawfully repossessed the company's assets. If the court rules for the complaint to be acceptable, there is a very high probability for it to be satisfied. This can have serious political and reputational implications. Kirill Nam, Managing Partner at Forum Law Firm said the court might say the authorities' actions were not lawful but there won't be any compensation as the company is liquidated.
