Mr. Koval worked at Menatep as an analyst for investment projects from 1991 to 1995, then left to work at SP RTT, where he worked until 1998. Subsequently, he went to work for Legal & Financial Company.

Testimony Summary:

Mr. Koval testified that he provided administrative and operational services to SP RTT then LFC's client companies. Part of his responsibilities included holding the title of managing director in 20 to 25 client companies. Mr. Koval testified that LFC's business model included an appointment of employee as a managing director of a registered company. Mr. Koval told the court that part of the services provided by a secretary company was to act according to instructions of the client who owned the companies being administered.

Mr. Koval testified that he signed numerous documents under the direction of Mr. Anilionis. According to Mr. Koval, if a document on his desk contained a post-it note with Mr. Anilionis' signature, it meant that it was to be signed. Mr. Koval testified that he signed all of the documents in his capacity as an authorized representative of the company, and not on his own behalf.

Mr. Koval confirmed his membership on VNK's Board of Directors. He confirmed that agenda items were presented and put to a vote. All decisions were made by a majority vote. Mr. Koval testified that he voted in step with Mr. Anilionis. Mr. Koval explained that all RTT employees on VNK's board voted according to Mr. Anilionis' instructions.

Mr. Koval testified that he had no knowledge of any complaints from the companies where he acted as a managing director or an authorized representative. In addition, he had no knowledge of any law suits being commenced in connections with any of his actions. Mr. Koval testified that everything he signed was known to and was vetted by the management [of Makarios.]

Mr. Koval testified that he did not know Messrs. Khodorkovsky or Lebedev and never received any documents or instructions from them. Mr. Koval did not testify about anything relevant to the charges of crude oil embezzlement.
