Russia's Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin "has been summoned to give evidence in the trial of former Yukos chief Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev that is taking place in Khamovnichesky court in Moscow," according to Vadim Klyuvgant, Mikhail Khodorkovsky's defense attorney.

Interfax reported that Klyuvgant made a statement to the press in Moscow on Tuesday noting that US law permits witnesses located in the U.S. to be summoned in a US Court to testify in cases taking place in other countries if that witness has information valuable to the case.

Klyuvgant went on to note that "given the situation taking place here, in Khamovnichesky Court, and the substantial violations of the rights of the defense, American attorneys opted for this particular legal procedure."
