A Moscow court has postponed the hearing scheduled for July 21 by a week in the lawsuit in which Norwegian telecoms company Telenor is attempting to block moves from Russian bailiffs to force the sale of the company's stake in VimpelCom.

Previously, a Siberian court awarded Farimex, a little known investor in VimpelCom, $1.7 billion after it agreed that Telenor had "held back VimpelCom's expansion in Ukraine". Telenor spokesman Paal Kvalheim said: "Telenor's formal and legal position has not changed. We will use every opportunity to stop this [sale] until a final decision has been reached [by the court system]."
