Robert Amsterdam: Six Years of Russian Injustice
Bob Amsterdam, a member of Mikhail Khodorkovsky's international defense team, provides an overview of the six years since Khodorkovsky's arrest in The Huffington Post.
Amsterdam notes that both Khodorkovsky and Russia have undergone important changes since his arrest six years ago. Despite the difficult prison conditions Khodorkovsky has been faced with, Amsterdam states: "It is clear to those of us who have watched and listened to Khodorkovsky over these years that his beliefs, spirit and convictions have only deepened."
Khodorkovsky's current "show trial", an example of the "theater of the absurd", continues in Moscow on charges Amsterdam believes are not only impossible, but contradictory to those of his first trial. He concludes by calling on the international community to do something as Russians are waking up to the "judicial travesty" facing Khodorkovsky.
