In an opinion editorial for Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Gleb Pavlovsky, the President at the Foundation for Effective Politics, comments that during his time in jail, Mikhail Khodorkovsky has become a prominent political analyst. Many government officials view his release as dangerous and would rather keep it from happening.

He concluded that: "The second trial against the businessman is another test for the Russian Government's maturity. I hope they will pass it."
