Piontkovsky: Khodorkovsky will Stay in Prison Until Putin Leaves the Kremlin
After attending the trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev, Andrey Piontkovsky, a prominent Russian political writer and analyst, said that he felt that everyone was tired of the trial.
Piontkovsky said that this is "a reflection of all its participants understanding the senseless of the trial as they realise that it is not them, but ‘one particular person' making the ultimate decision."
He added: "Until [Prime Minister] Vladimir Putin leaves the Kremlin, Khodorkovsky will stay in prison."
Piontkovsky noted that at the hearing, state prosecutor Valery Lakhtin, who was speaking "95% of the time," failed to make the witness confess that YUKOS's IPO on the New York Stock Exchange was suspended at Khodorkovsky and Lebedev's personal instruction. However, the question had no relevance to the subject of the trial.
