Moscow City Court Upholds Right of Lawyers to Use Computers in Matrosskaya Tishina
The Moscow City Court ruled in favor of Platon Lebedev and Mikhail Khodorkovsky, upholding an earlier decision allowing the lawyers to use their laptops when visiting their clients in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center.
Lebedev defense attorney Yelena Liptser commented on the decision, saying: "The ban on using notebook computers [in the detention center] has been hampering our access to the case materials. There are more than two hundred volumes of these materials and Lebedev has no other means of familiarizing himself with their contents except in electronic form." Khodorkovsky's lawyers say they have also been prevented from bringing their portable computers into the prison by the administration of the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center. It is possible that they will also now appeal against this ban.
