Mikhail Khodorkovsky has written to send The New Times Magazine birthday wishes. Below is a transcript of the letter:

Dear Irena

Happy 5th anniversary of the your brainchild, The New Times.

During these years it has become an important publication, an instrument of communication for all of us who are not comfortable in the Putin's state, who values democratic Russia that we have been building, although with some mistakes.

We do not lose our hope because we know that "Putins" are [only] temporary, and it's not the worst that our country has been through. The most important is that there are still more good people than bad ones.

Thank you for not allowing us to forget this.
