Le Monde journalist Marie Jego explains why the charges against Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev are considered absurd. One reason she observes is that all of YUKOS' oil was being transported through state-owned Transneft's pipelines and could therefore be easily tracked.
Jego notes that in his recent publication in Vedomosti, where he responded to President Dimity Medvedev's modernization plans, Khodorkovsky said he believes that neither the "siloviki" nor a tandem of corrupted officials and oligarchs are suitable for helping the State conduct necessary reforms.
