Marina Khodorkovskaya, the mother of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, commented on her inability to see her son on his birthday to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

She said: "When my son was imprisoned in Chita I was always allowed to visit him on his birthday. This time they did not allow me to see him and, since the court hearing was cancelled that day, I could not even get a glimpse of him from a distance, although they usually hold the hearings on Fridays. I'm pleased that he has not given up and is trying to keep abreast of what is happening here and now. Of course, I support him in that."
