In a comment for Radio Svoboda, Denis Volkov, a sociologist at the Levada Opinion Center, describes the image that the Russian people have of Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Volkov believes that Khodorkovsky encompassing three roles: first and foremost a political prisoner, secondly a former oligarch, and thirdly a commentator and politician who publishes keynote declarations and articles in the media. He added that Khodorkovsky mainly influences elite groups of educated people who read national newspapers, internet news and foreign media.
