Khodorkovsky-Lebedev Statement on the Death of Yegor Gaidar
Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev have expressed their condolences on the death of Yegor Gaidar:
"We deeply mourn the death of Yegor Timurovich Gaydar. He was a man of outstanding talent.
With minimal resources and vaguely-drawn lines of responsibility, Yegor Timurovich threw himself wholeheartedly into managing the country's economy, which was falling apart. He was charged with a brief, solely based on personal trust from the First President of Russia. And he succeeded.
For the past 15 years, the country has been debating about the rationality of his chosen path of development, the losses and the martyrs brought to the altar of recovery. By fate, he did not have much time, but he has succeeded. His efforts formed a solid platform, upon which our under-reformed economy is still functioning today.
For this, a deep bow and eternal glory to him".
