Igor Jurgens, Chairman of the Institute of Contemporary Development (INSOR) Board, has said that the second trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky must end with the businessman's release.

At an online press conference organized by Gazeta.ru on February 8, Jurgens said: "The first trial slightly resembled an economic case, but the second trial has done a lot of harm to the national image and the attitude of the elite to current events. To my mind, the second trial must end as soon as possible, preferably, with the release of the defendant and his acquittal in the first case."

He added: "That is a complicated story, a story of struggle. The second trial is contradictory even for the prosecution."
