Human Rights Activist Mikhail Trepashkin On the Violations in the Trial

Human rights activist Mikhail Trepashkin wonders why the prosecutors are analyzing the activities of YUKOS's managers in 2004 if many were already in prison at that time and ‘"could not possibly have had anything to do with those transactions". He adds that: "It is such a shame that the prosecutors pass such cases to the court. It is wrong to apply the criminal code this way, let alone their numerous procedural violations."

He adds: "Why are they are talking about embezzlement? It is only possible if the money embezzled come from illegal sources, while in their [Khodorkovsky and Lebedev's] case, it is legal money from legal [business] turnover."
