The European Court of Human Rights has refused the Russian government's request to refer the case of Aleksanyan v. Russia to the Grand Chamber, confirming that the judgment of December 22, 2008, which secured Aleksanyan's freedom from detention, must stand.

The judgment therefore is considered final as of June 5, 2009.
