Mikhail Delyagin, a Russian think tank director, visited several hearings of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev's trial and commented in Russian online magazine EJ.ru on the proceedings.

He notes that the prosecution is "engaged in a patently senseless case" and that the "observer effect" is "playing a cruel joke on those of us who are thinking and writing about this trial" as he does not want to fall under the spell that this trial must be called "justice".
