Corruption: Russia's Economic Stumbling Block

In an opinion editorial in BusinessWeek, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey lawyers Carol M. Welu and Yevgenya Muchnik comment that events such as the demise of YUKOS have "curbed investors' appetite for Russia".

According to Welu and Muchnik, these events are compounded by additional and ongoing "fears and frustrations over Russia's reputation for seemingly pervasive corruption" - which they believe is one of the largest barriers to foreign investment in the country.
