In this segment of Glasnost Territory Journalist Natella Boltyanskaya interviews Leonid Gozman, a co-chairman of the Just Cause party. In a discussion of the Khodorkovsky case Gozman admits the unconditional release of Khodorkovsky is a non-option for the Kremlin because upon his release he would represent such a powerful opposition political force. In the increasingly heated interview Gozman insists that the Russian state not an arbitrary institution, and that it functions on clear premises; “What we have now is an enlightened absolutism.” Using the USA as an example, Gozman presents the notion of a strong state being a product of a strong democracy, and that legitimate democracy and rule of law are the prerequisites for a strong state.

In this video Natella Boltyanskaya interviews Khodorkovsky attorney Yuri Schmidt about the tendencies of the trial, public opinion of the trial and the potential influence of the European Court of Human Rights. Also discussed is the position of Russian leadership and Medvedev in relation to the trial. Schmidt is unoptimistic, and asserts that "Medvedev will never interfere in the case of Khodorkovsky because it is not his case."

In this video Vadim Klyuvgant calls Khodorkovsky’s final words in his trial “a word of truth” but laments that it is highly unlikely that he and Lebedev will be acquitted. When asked if any of the charges were legitimate, Klyuvgant responds “it was a fake from the beginning until the end, from the first to the last word.”
