Berlin Protesters Mark 8th Anniversary of Khodorkovsky's Arrest

On October 29, 2011 about 80 activists gathered in front of the Russian Embassy to mark the eighth anniversary of the arrest of the businessman Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his long years of unlawful imprisonment.

The demonstrators carried posters and banners and chanted "Let him go, MBK". Signatures were collected for a petition asking for the release of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, his friend and former business partner Platon Lebedev as well as all political prisoners in Russia. At the end of the 90 minutes picket, the petition was handed in at the door of the Russian Embassy.

The demonstration was organized by a group of students from Frankfurt (Main) who founded the group "Behind Bars". They were supported by Amnesty International, Memorial and the Committee to Free Khodorkovsky and Lebedev.
