Konstantin Rivkin

Mr. Rivkin is currently a lawyer on the defense team representing Platon Lebedev, former YUKOS Oil Executive. According to the journal Profile (October 2004), Mr. Rivkin is one of the most well-known lawyers in Russia and covers high-profile criminal cases.
In March 2006, Mr. Rivkin received an award for "loyalty to the legal profession" from the Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation. In December 2004, he was also awarded a certificate of honor and gratitude by the Moscow City Chamber of Lawyers for "professional excellence in defending the rights, liberties and lawful interests of citizens and legal entities." Mr. Rivkin is a member of the Board of the Moscow City Chamber of Lawyers.
In 1996, Mr. Rivkin was accepted into the Moscow City Bar Association and began working for the Moscow law firm Kaganer and Partners since its founding. He is engaged principally in defending cases involving economic crimes (theft, tax evasion, unlawful entrepreneurship, etc.).
Mr. Rivkin has published several scholarly articles on the issues of criminal science, procedure and law. He is also a co-author of Commentary on the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, Commentary on the Law on the Advocacy and the Bar, and several editions of the textbook Criminal Science for higher education establishments in Russia.
Mr. Rivkin graduated cum laude from the Moscow School of Police of the MVD of the USSR in 1982. He later worked as a criminal investigator in Moscow, specializing in economic crimes. Mr. Rivkin taught for ten years at the Department of Criminalistics of the Juridical Institute. He earned a PhD in Juridical Sciences and the academic rank of Assistant Professor.
