Italian MP On. Roberto Rao Comments on the Trial
Speaking at the opening of the "Drawing (in)Justice" exhibit, On. Roberto Rao, an MP from the UDC Party in Italy's lower chamber noted:
"We have followed this issue, the important trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, from the beginning. In the silence of the Italian parliament, we proposed a motion which was unanimously adopted in favor of freedom and for light to be shed on this dark issue, which relates not only to Russia, but to everyone. It relates to the freedom of information, trade and democracy throughout the world."
He continued, "We think that at the moment this freedom does not exist in Russia, and we want to make a small contribution to bring this story into the public domain. I think art is one of the tools we can use to move people, much more than words. If you look at these pictures, many questions are raised: in order to explain these pictures it is easier understand what is happening in Russia, to this person, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who we know about, and to many others we don't know about him."
